The Covid-19\ncrisis is affecting people around the globe. It has even caused the American\nDental Association to recommend that dentists only offer emergency treatment\nuntil Covid-19 is no longer a significant threat. Has your dental treatment\nbeen delayed due to social distancing protocols? Here are some tips on keeping\nup with your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familydentalnewington.com\/preventive-dentistry-for-adults.html\">dental\nhygiene<\/a> through the quarantine so you can prevent new dental problems and\nstop current ones from rapidly worsening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brush Up on Your Brushing Technique<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most people regularly brush their teeth, but not everyone\nbrushes their teeth <em>properly. <\/em>Here is a brief list of things you can do\nto make your brushing as effective as possible:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Brush for at least two minutes twice a day.<\/strong>\nTry to spend 30 seconds brushing each quadrant of your mouth.<\/li><li><strong>Be gentle<\/strong>. Brushing too hard can irritate\nyour gums and cause premature wear and tear on your enamel.<\/li><li><strong>Use a fluoride-containing toothpaste.<\/strong>\nFluoride helps to fortify enamel and is a key to preventing decay.<\/li><li><strong>Be thorough. <\/strong>Do not forget to brush the\nbacks of your teeth or the area along the gum line.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Floss Nightly<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Allowing food particles and bacteria to remain on your teeth\novernight can quickly worsen existing decay and lead to new day. It is vital,\nthen, that you go to bed with a clean mouth. Before you brush at night, use\nfloss to gently clean the tight spaces between your teeth. But, remember \u2014 you\nshouldn\u2019t just quickly insert the floss into the space and pull it out. Run it\nalong the sides of both teeth that surround the space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rinse with Mouthwash<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Rinsing with a mouthwash for 30 \u2013 60 seconds before or after\nyou brush your teeth can help to clean all the little nooks and crannies in\nyour mouth. Bear in mind, though, that not all mouthwashes have oral health\nbenefits. Some are just designed to freshen breath or whiten teeth. Be sure\nthat your mouthwash is designed to fight harmful bacteria. You might find it\nbeneficial to use a product that contains fluoride or that has an agent that\nprevents plaque from hardening into tartar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Schedule Your Next Dental Appointment Now<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hopefully, the spread of Covid-19 will soon be under\ncontrol. When that happens, dental practices are going to resume their normal\noperating hours. They are likely to be much busier than usual, and it might be\na challenge to secure an appointment slot that is convenient for you.\nTherefore, you should consider contacting your dentist as soon as possible to\nask if they are scheduling appointments for after the quarantine ends.
