Anthem BlueCross BlueShield Coverage Availability & Fees
Anthem offers a variety of dental plans for individuals and families, so we cannot make any firm statements about your coverage. We encourage you to look at the details of your specific policy so you can gain a clear understanding of how it works in various situations.
In the meantime, we can provide a basic overview of the coverage that is often available through PPO dental plans:
- Preventive care is usually 100% covered. Cleanings, exams, and routine X-rays fall into this category.
- Basic care is often up to 80% covered. Fillings and other relatively simple restorative procedures are usually classified as basic.
- Major treatments may be around 50% covered. This category usually includes crowns, dentures, some types of oral surgery, and a range of other services.
Keep in mind as well that your plan may come with a deductible that you must pay before your benefits kick in; a waiting period before your insurance will cover certain treatments; and an annual maximum, which is a yearly cap on how much Anthem will pay for approved treatments.
Because our practice is in-network with Anthem BlueCross BlueShield, we are in a unique position to help you maximize your benefits. We have a contract with Anthem that manages fees, meaning that you are likely to get more value out of your annual maximum. We might even be able to schedule major treatments in a way that allows you to use two annual maximums rather than just one.
